Here are a few waxing tips and some of our more Frequently Asked Questions:

Before Waxing:
     • DO NOT wax for the first time right before a big event. Wax 2-3 times before the special event… you don't want to ruin it with a negative reaction.
     • DO NOT wax within at least 2 weeks of any type of skin treatments such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser peels, etc.
     • DO Take Tylenol/Advil 30 minutes prior to waxing, if allowed by your Physician.
     • DO Limit caffeine and alcohol on day of waxing as these products may increase sensitivity.

     • How long should the hair be? For the best results, the hair should be about 1/4 of an inch long. A common rule of thumb for waxing is if the hair is long enough to pinch, then it's ready to be waxed! If you have recently shaved, grow your hair out for about 2-3 weeks.
     • What about razor burn? For those who get razor burn, waxing is a great alternative for many reasons. Before and after your wax it is beneficial to exfoliate the skin to prevent ingrown hairs.
     • Does waxing hurt? Well, let's be honest… pain is relative. But rest assured, our technicians are really good at this… we do it all day, every day! Waxing is bearable and well worth it. Most clients return saying something like, "… that wasn't as bad as I thought…"
     • What type of wax do you use? We use combinations of both hard and soft waxes for different areas to get the best results. Remember, we are really good at this and know what we're doing!
     • Why should I wax instead of shave? When hair is shaved, within a few days, the hair can be seen at the surface of the skin and coarse stubble can be felt. Shaving commonly results in ingrown hairs, bumps and ongoing skin irritation. When waxed, hair grows back slower, softer and without stubble. Waxing will, over time, make hair growth finer, and hair will become less in volume; but there will always be some re-growth.
     • Why can't I just wax myself at home? Not a great idea... There's a reason the State requires a License for this.
     • What should I discuss with you before waxing? Are you diabetic, bruise easily, Varicose veins, sunburned, thyroid conditions, menstruating, are you currently using, or have used products/medications that are contraindicated for waxing: Accutane, Retin-A, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, Tazorac Avage, Differin, Strivectin, Renova, Proactive, Avita, benzoyl peroxide & salicylic acid. These are only some of the products we are aware of that may cause a problem and new ones can come along daily. Your skin is important to you and us – so please check with your doctor if you have any doubts.

After Waxing:
     • DO NOT shave between appointments.
     • DO NOT touch the area you just waxed, including intercourse, to avoid irritation / infection.
     • DO NOT expose waxed skin to tanning beds/sun for 24 hrs.

     • How long do the results last? Consistent waxing creates consistent results. Because of hair growth cycles, beginners may need a few sessions to achieve consistently smooth results. Waxing on a regular basis will lengthen time between waxing services.
     • How long should I wait between waxing treatments? We recommend returning every 4-6 weeks for optimal results.
     • Why should I wax regularly? Because hair grows in cycles. By waxing every 4 weeks, you will keep the hair re-growth minimal, and your skin will be silky smooth, longer.
     • Does waxing cause in-grown hairs? No... In fact waxing can help prevent ingrown hairs. It is very common for first time waxers to see bumps and/or ingrown hairs, but waxing regularly (4-6 weeks) will reduce these over time.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty… Brazilian Waxing.

     • What exactly does the Brazilian Wax cover? There are several different options which you can discuss with your technician prior to your wax, but typically our Brazilian Wax covers everything, front to back, no hair left anywhere in the genital area.
     • How long does a Brazilian Wax take? It typically takes 20-30 minutes. It all depends on the customer. The first time usually takes the longest. The second time is much faster and more comfortable.
     • What if this is my first Brazilian Wax? Expect a little skin irritation. If you get waxed regularly, your skin will become accustomed and you should not have the irritation. If you only do it once or twice a year expect to go through this each time. It is normal to get tiny whiteheads after your first or second time of being waxed. This too shall pass if you keep waxing.
     • EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!!-- Tips to ingrown hairs - - Starting 2 to 3 days after being waxed...exfoliate daily. Exfoliation will help get rid of the dead skin cells and help "lift" the hairs growing out. The hairs in our lady/man parts tend to be more course and curly. They can either grow out, or grow right back into the skin, or will try to embed themselves under the layers of dead skin cells. In any case, your body may treat this like a splinter and may send the antibodies there to try to destroy it. Do not pluck, squeeze, or pick at any bumps… at your next visit we will treat these occurrences for you with the proper tools and training. We carry products which can also aid in reducing and relieving bumps and ingrown hairs.
